Mainstream Wordpress Theme
We recently took a look at one of the latest free Wordpress themes by Woothemes and were totally shocked that such a great design was given completely free – no registration even needed. The only catch here is if you need help with it, you need to be a member. That said, you can get access to all their themes for as little as 70 bucks.
This theme is available in 5 colors. We found it super easy to customize this theme solely through the CSS. This theme also shows off the new Woothemes backend UI enhancements which they recently rolled out with their new relaunched site.
Suckerfish Menus
Mainstream also has some nice suckerfish drop-down menus (for categories) which adds a nice touch. One of the problems with some themes today is the inability to scale as the website grows in content. This theme looks great with minimal amount of content and will probably age well over time if you don’t mind the fact that there’s only one secondary column for widgets.
Social Networking Link Styles
With social networking becoming increasingly popular with bloggers, the Twitter, RSS, and Facebook icons sure make for great use and look really good with this theme.
Widget Styles
The widget styles of the Mainstream theme are perhaps its catchiest design element. We took a look under the hood and it appears there is some nice PNG transparency – so modifying these to fit your own custom color scheme won’t be hard to achieve.
